Welcome to Luv2Play In Clay

Hi, my name is Janet Klatt Conley. My love for clay began at a very young age when I would make mud pies with the boy next door in our pretend kitchen (old shed) out in the yard.

Later my interest grew as I would paint china, ceramics, glaze and fire kilns with my grandmother Amelia Klatt. She was a talented artist and crafter. I spent many hours with her crafting and working in her beautiful  yard and gardens.  To this day she inspires me in my pottery and my faith. She left me a legacy of love for my faith in Christ and a love of pottery and art.

Life got busy and so pottery was put on the back burner except for special occasions and Christmas gifts.

I am  a wife,  mother of four grown sons, and seven  grandchildren.

When my youngest son  left home and went into the military my husband told me to ”get a Hobby” a saying he now regrets because Luv2Play in Clay was born  and  has  developed  into more than a hobby and it now takes over our home.

My pottery is based on my faith in Jesus Christ and most of my work is inspired by bible studies, mission trips, and in 2018 I traveled to Israel and brought back rocks from many of the places we visited and studied. I love textures and with those rocks “Textures of Israel” was born.  Now many of my pieces are textured with those very rocks.

My hope and prayer is that every piece of pottery I  make  is a blessing to the home it adorns.

Oh  Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, you are the Potter,  we are all  the work of your hand.  Isaiah 64:8
